FAQ
Short answers about scans, tips, credits and your account.
Scans and results
What is a geo-grid scan?
Google Maps shows different results depending on where you search from. A scan runs the same search from a grid of spots around your business and records your position at each one, so you can see how far your visibility reaches.
How long does a scan take?
A standard scan is ready in about 5 minutes. An express scan takes about a minute and uses 2 credits per spot. You can leave the page while it runs: the results are saved.
How far down do you check?
Each search reads the top 100 results. Averages follow the usual convention and count anything below 20th as 21.
Why is my result different from what I see on my phone?
Your phone searches from where you are standing, and Google also uses your own search history. PinRipple searches from fixed spots, without anyone's history, so one week's scan can be compared with the next.
Can I track a business that isn't mine?
Yes. You can add any business listed on Google Maps, such as a client's. The free plan tracks one business; paid plans have no limit.
Which places and languages work?
Anywhere Google Maps covers. Searches can be made in English or French, as if from a computer or a phone.
Tips, rivals and AI answers
Will it tell me how to rank higher?
Yes, in plain words. After each scan, PinRipple lists what to fix first, such as reviews, categories, photos or opening hours, with the steps to do it. Paid plans show every tip and check your Google profile against the 3 businesses that show up most around you. Free accounts see their top tip after each scan.
Who are my rivals?
The businesses that come up in the top 3 most often across your scan. They can change from one search term to the next, so PinRipple shows them for each term.
Does ChatGPT recommend my business?
Paid plans can ask ChatGPT, Gemini and Google's AI Mode the questions your customers ask, and show whether you are mentioned, who is named instead and which sites the answers use. Each answer uses 2 credits.
Should I add keywords to my business name?
No. Google asks for the name you use in real life, on your sign and your receipts. Adding keywords breaks its rules and can get your profile suspended. PinRipple's tips stick to changes Google allows.
Credits and plans
What is a credit?
One credit is one spot on the grid for one search term. A 7 × 7 scan of one term uses 49 credits; the same scan for three terms uses 147. Each AI answer uses 2 credits.
Do unused credits roll over?
No. Monthly credits are renewed each month, without carrying over. Bonus credits and refunds for failed searches never expire.
What if a search fails?
Its credits come back by themselves. You only pay for the spots that were searched.
Can I change or cancel my plan?
Yes, any time, in Plans and billing. If you cancel, your plan stays until the end of the period you paid for, then the account goes back to Free.
How do I pay?
By card, PayPal, Apple Pay or Google Pay. Paddle handles payments for us: it adds VAT or sales tax where it applies and sends your receipts. Prices are in US dollars.
Account and data
Is PinRipple part of Google?
No. PinRipple is an independent tool and is not affiliated with or endorsed by Google.
Can I share results with clients?
Yes. Every business gets a private report link you can send to anyone, and you can switch it off at any time. Pro and Agency reports leave out PinRipple branding.
What do you do with my data?
We use it to run your account and your scans, and we never sell it. The privacy policy explains what we keep and why.
How do I delete my account?
Write to hello@pinripple.com from the email you sign in with. We delete your account and your personal data, except records the law asks us to keep.
